Sneha Bharadwaj is a professional Indian dancer and has, over many years, established an Indian Classical Dance scene in Munich, Germany. She graduated
from Bangalore University with a bachelors degree in choreography, and later, from Bharatidasan University with a master’s degree in fine art. A recipient of many prestigious awards, Sneha has performed at various dance festivals in and around
India, Germany, USA, France, Switzerland, Poland, Croatia and other countries. She is also trained in Yoga and Indian Martial Arts. She is the founder and artistic director of the Indian dance school & company in Munich, ‘Abhinaya Indischer Tanz’ and ‘Abhinaya Tanz Kampani‘. Productions like Soulmate, Shakti, Sambhrama, Tarang, Nritya Parva, Leela & Sammilana with Western classical ballet have earned her accolades, she has carved a niche for herself with her unique performances. By empowering through art, she hopes to continue celebrating South Asian art in Europe in all its glory.

Born in Oct 2011, Abhinaya-Indischer Tanz is a sincere effort by Sneha Bharadwaj to preserve the rich heritage of Indian Dance Traditions by imparting intensive training in Bharathanatyam to aspiring dancers in Munich,students are provided comprehensive theoretical and practical training from beginners level to advance level…Students are provided opportunities to participate in the dance productions and stages shows of Abhinaya. Certificate of appreciation will be given for students who completes a level or an year in Abhinaya Tanzschule. Abhinaya Indischer Tanz imparts training in Bharatanatyam, BharataNrityam with occasional training in Kathak, Semi-Classical and Indian folk dance

Bharatanatyam

Bharatanatyam is one of the most popular and widely practiced classical dance styles of India, with sculptural evidence dating back nearly 5000 years, Bharatanatyam‘s roots go back to the temples of South India.The dance has travelled from temples to courts to proscenium stage. It has retained its characteristic devotional component, expression of human emotions, and stylized storytelling. Originally performed only by female soloists, Bharatanatyam is now performed by male and female soloists as well as ensembles all over the world. In its present form, Bharatanatyam is approximately 200 years old, and continues to evolve as a “living” performance art. The classical dance form “Bharathanatyam” is a profound synthesis of aesthetics, philosophy, sculpture, movements, poetry and literature...The Art form is a mirror for ethics, laws, and the functioning of the society of the today and the past. It gathers all these strands and sets them in motion. 

BharathaNrityam / Marga Nritta

Indian Dramaturgy "Natya Shastra" author Bharatha`s technique is called “Marga Nritta”, This common Marga Style with all its aspects co-existed with the respective regional styles called Desi, In the post-Indian independence period, these regional dances got categorized as classical and folk-based on the development of the pedagogy and the sophistication of the technique."Marga Nritta" has an authentic codification of the technical nuances besides the added advantage of the sculptural documentation of the same technique in many temples. Making the information unambiguous and precise. Nritta Karanas is an important dance technique detailed in the Marga Discipline. Bharatha's Marga was the only grammar till the 8th and 9th Century, From the 10th Century, Desi Karanas came into existence. An amalgamation of Desi style with the Marga was from the 10th Century onwards 


Semi Classical

Bollywood dance moves is a familiar sight around the globe. But what is the symbolism of the gestures, footwork, and costumes?? Was it drawn from classical Indian dance styles? Well, Originally, Bollywood dancing drew inspiration from Indian classical dance styles; Mughal influenced dances of historic northern Indian courtesans and various folk dances from all over India. With the blend of Western cultural influences on Indian society, the newer Indian cinemas feature dances that clearly show a blend of Classical dance and western dance style which is now the Bollywood dance. Abhinaya Semi-Classical Choreography is an effort to recreate the style of older movies, where the choreography was primarily modeled on Indian classical and folk dance styles. 


Class Pedagogy, Training dancers in technique is great and virtuosity can wow the audience, but if it doesn't touch or make the audience feel something it seems the performance has lost its purpose. Its great to have dancers who come with open hearts, Dance was indeed since ages a means to express our deepest feelings and desires, it was before we could speak a means to educate and communicate. Besides following the pedagogy of the ancient Indian Dramaturgy "NatyaShastra" we also bring in the Kinaesthetic method into Abhinaya classes, intelligence literature from Gardner (knowing your body and its possibilities to convey an idea, express emotion through your body), Emotional intelligence from Gardner, Goleman, Salovey & Mayer opens plenty of opportunities to understand emotions analyze and project them accurately so that the public emphasizes the story at a deeper level.
